We are seeking a skilled and reliable Bread Baker / Roll Plant Operator to join our bread production team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of breads and bread rolls while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and food safety. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who is committed, professional, polite, and always willing to support colleagues in a fast-paced production environment. You will play a key role in ensuring all products are produced efficiently and meet the bakery's quality standards.
A Baker's responsibilities include:
- Starting early in the morning to produce baked goods for delivery or sale during regular business hours.
- Ensuring that Dorringtons consistently offers fresh, high-quality products to customers each day.
- Maintaining product consistency, following production procedures, and ensuring all bakery items meet company quality and food safety standards.
- Monitoring the quality and standard of ingredients.
- Preparing equipment for daily production.
- Measuring and weighing wet and dry ingredients accurately.
- Using mixing equipment to mix and combine ingredients.
- Operating roll plant machinery and bread mixers following recipes and procedures.
- Kneading and moulding dough to the required standards.
- Carrying out finishing tasks to ensure products are presentation-ready.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the production area.
- Working efficiently to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
Health and Safety: Adhere to all Health and Safety rules as per the Health and Safety Policy and the staff handbook.
Training and Development: Full training will be given on site whilst having a hands-on approach. Give your full attention to hygiene and good working practices.
Uniforms: Ensure you are wearing clean and the correct uniform including hat, hair net, Dorringtons top, trousers and safety shoes. Ensure you are smart, tidy and are aware of our company policy with regards to no jewellery (except a plain wedding band), nail varnish or false eyelashes.
Requirements: Baking requires attention to detail and careful measuring of ingredients. Baking is a science, and Bakers must be good at following directions and recipes in order to make a deliciously finished product. A successful Baker candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that include:
