HOUSE CLEARANCE VAN DRIVER | £12.77 per hour + annual bonus scheme
Part time - 15 hours per week (2 days out of 7 - with some weekend working).

As a House Clearance Van Driver, you'll play a vital role in generating income for the charity by helping to deliver our professional house clearance service across the region. No two days are the same. One day you could be clearing furniture from a customer's home, the next sorting donations, supporting warehouse operations, or transporting stock to our busy charity shops. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, values great customer service, and takes pride in supporting a worthwhile cause.
WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?
- Delivering our house clearance service by removing agreed items from customers' properties in a respectful and professional manner
- Driving a Dorothy House 3.5 tonne Luton van and other fleet vehicles between customer locations, shops, the warehouse, recycling centres and other destinations as required
- Loading, unloading and handling a variety of donated items including furniture, clothing, electrical goods and household items
- Sorting stock into saleable, recyclable and waste categories to maximise income and minimise environmental impact
- Supporting warehouse operations including receiving, processing, storing and distributing stock to retail locations
- Providing excellent customer service and acting as a positive ambassador for Dorothy House in the community
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment across vehicles, warehouse spaces and customer sites
- Following all health and safety procedures, completing vehicle checks and using equipment safely at all times
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and external partners to support the success of the retail operation
ABOUT YOU
Please Note that only existing Dorothy House employees / volunteers are eligible to apply for this role. This role is physically demanding and requires regular lifting, moving items, and being on your feet for extended periods. While full manual handling training will be provided and we commit to considering reasonable adjustments, applicants should be aware that the core duties of this role require a high level of physical activity.
Essential requirements:
- Demonstrates attention to detail with a good standard of Maths and English
- A full UK Driving Licence allowing you to drive up to 3.5 tonne vehicles
- Able to work on own initiative and be a good team player
- Demonstrate excellent prioritisation and organisation skills
- Confident using IT systems and Microsoft packages such as Word, E-mail, Excel and databases
Desirable requirements:
- Experience of working in the retail sector, logistics sector, or with volunteers
- Knowledge of manual handling with experience regularly moving and lifting loads in a work environment.
