You'll help ensure patients and families are connected to the right support, while empowering communities to build on their own strengths. WHAT WILL THE ROLE INVOLVE?
- Building strong relationships across communities, identifying local assets, networks and opportunities
- Acting as an ambassador for Dorothy House, promoting our services and developing community partnerships
- Supporting an asset-based community development (ABCD) approach to co‑produce sustainable solutions
- Working collaboratively with internal teams, volunteers and external organisations to deliver community‑focused initiatives
- Supporting the development and growth of community volunteer activity and engagement
- Connecting patients, families and carers to appropriate local services, support and community resources
- Supporting and nurturing volunteers, including recruitment, development and ongoing support
- Attending community events, forums and partnership meetings to strengthen local presence and engagement
ABOUT YOU
Essential requirements:- Experience building relationships across communities or organisations (e.g. partnerships, stakeholder engagement, community groups, or cross‑team collaboration)
- Demonstrates an ability to engage, influence and communicate effectively with a wide range of people (such as colleagues, volunteers, external partners, patients and families)
- Experience supporting or coordinating volunteers, projects or community‑based activities (such as organising, guiding or supporting others to deliver set outcomes)
- Demonstrates the ability to work proactively and use initiative to develop or improve services, and build partnerships
- Experience identifying needs and connecting people to appropriate support, services or opportunities (e.g. signposting, community mapping, social prescribing style work)
- Understanding of community‑led approaches that build on local strengths, networks and existing support within communities (e.g. asset‑based community development/ABCD)
- Experience working in health, social care, hospice, voluntary or community sector settings
- Experience facilitating group events, or co‑production activity (e.g. communities, volunteers or partners - to share ideas and shape services, activities or solutions together)
