Mechanical Construction Lead Location – Northumberland Role Overview The Mechanical Construction Lead will lead the site delivery of the mechanical package on a large-scale hyperscale data centre project. Reporting to the Project Director / Operations Director, you will manage mechanical construction activities, subcontractors and site teams, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and to the required quality standards. The role requires strong experience delivering complex mechanical and chilled water (CHW) systems within data centre or mission-critical environments. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day mechanical construction activities on site. Manage mechanical subcontractors, site teams and multiple work fronts. Drive programme, productivity, quality and safety across the mechanical package. Oversee installation of CHW systems, pipework, pumps, CRAHs, AHUs, heat exchangers and associated mechanical plant. Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, CSA and other disciplines. Review drawings, resolve RFIs and identify construction or coordination issues. Manage short-term programmes and look-ahead schedules. Ensure systems are completed and ready for testing and commissioning. Work closely with Commissioning and QA/QC teams through system completion and handover. Drive snagging, punch-list completion and construction close-out. Experience Required Previous experience as a Mechanical Construction Lead / Manager on major projects. Strong knowledge of chilled water (CHW) systems and large-scale mechanical installations. Data centre or mission-critical project experience highly desirable. Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and site teams. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, testing and commissioning. Hyperscale data centre experience, DFMA and Lean Construction experience advantageous.
