Dornan are involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Waste to Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical.

Due to the continuous growth with Dornan Engineering, we are currently looking to recruit experienced Electrical Chargehands to join the company on exciting projects. You will join Dornan's hard working and ambitious project teams and you will benefit from a supportive culture, where your ideas and contributions will be recognised.

At Dornan, we are currently recruiting Electrical Chargehands to work on a pharma project in the Athlone area.

  • Permanent position based in Athlone
  • Experience working on Industrial & Commercial or Pharmaceutical projects
  • 1+ years post qualification experience

Your day to day will include:

  • Lead and coordinate electrical crews to ensure installation works are completed safely, correctly, and on schedule.
  • Review drawings, method statements, and permits, providing guidance to the team and highlighting clashes or design issues to engineers and supervisors.
  • Manage materials and equipment, ensuring timely ordering, tracking deliveries, and controlling use on-site to avoid delays.
  • Drive safety performance, conducting toolbox talks, enforcing LOTO and SOPs, and ensuring all works meet site safety regulations and client requirements.

What we are looking for:

  • Recognised electrical trade qualification (e.g., QQI Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate) with a minimum of 1+ years' experience supervising electrical installation on large industrial or pharma projects.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, ATEX, LOTO.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, capable of directing crews, coordinating subcontractors, and resolving on-site technical issues effectively.
  • Up-to-date safety certifications (Safe Pass, Manual Handling, MEWP, plus supervisor-level safety training) and a strong track record in driving a positive safety culture.
