Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an apprentice trained, experienced Manual / CNC Grinder to join the team at our facility based in Wolverhampton on shifts once training is completed. At Moog we’re focused on the customer and for us this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high profile. Our Machinists work to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities:
- Experience in setting and operating manual cylindrical machines S20/RM250 and setting CNC (preferably Studer S33/S31).
- Capability of machining exotic and hardened materials.
- Carry out own first off inspection and check/complete the necessary quality documentation.
- Precision manual cylindrical grinding, working to achieve limits to 0.00005”.
- Able to set and run multiple machine/processes.
Key Skills and Experience:
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- Cylindrical grinding experience essential.
- Mate grinding experience preferred.
- Previous experience within an engineering/manufacturing role within the aerospace industry.
- Good knowledge of machining techniques and appropriate tooling.
- Attention to detail and accuracy and process improvement.
- Using the relevant inspection techniques/equipment to achieve drawing tolerance.
This role will require the individual to work a shift pattern, including nights and overtime when requested. The role requires the candidate to be self‑certified and a quality stamp holder after qualifying period.
Security Clearance: Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that in the event that clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role, and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
