Moog Aircraft Group Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced First Article Inspector to take ownership of AS9102-compliant FAI activity across new product introduction, product changes, and supplied components.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complete First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements
- Verify all dimensions, tolerances and features against engineering drawings and specifications
- Interpret complex drawings including full GD&T requirements
- Produce accurate, detailed FAIR documentation and validation packages for internal and customer approval
- Record inspection data within digital quality systems
- Identify and formally report non-conformances in line with AS9102 requirements
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Liaise closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to resolve technical queries and improve manufacturability
- Support receiving, in-process and final inspection activities as required
- Extensive experience within aerospace dimensional inspection
- Strong AS9102 First Article Inspection experience (essential)
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experienced in using precision measuring equipment including:
- Verniers
- Micrometers (inside, outside, depth)
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Depth micrometers
- Manual and/or CNC CMM
- Experience within AS9100 quality environments
- SAP and/or Solumina experience advantageous
- Able to manage workload independently with minimal supervision
- High attention to detail with the ability to balance accuracy and production demands
- Strong communication skills across cross-functional teams
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, or extensive aerospace quality experience
- Must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance
- Flexible to work shift patterns as required
This role reports to the Quality Team Leader.
