Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an apprentice‑trained, experienced CNC Machinist (Turner/Mill‑Turn) for an 18‑month fixed term contract to join the team at our facility based in Wolverhampton. At Moog, we’re focused on the customer and for us, this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high‑profile. Our Machinists work to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry. This is a Night Shift role and offers a 33.33% shift allowance.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate multiple CNC machines/processes.
- Perform first-off inspections and complete necessary quality documentation.
- Capability and competent in setting up and using machine tools.
- Carry out own 1st off inspection and check/complete the necessary quality documentation.
- Proven experience in a machine shop environment.
- Competent in setting up and using machine tools.
- Confident in using precision measurement equipment.
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- Previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing role, ideally within the aerospace industry.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques and appropriate tooling.
- Proven skills in a multi‑axis/complex machining environment.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and process improvement techniques.
- Proficiency in using relevant inspection techniques/equipment to achieve drawing tolerances.
- Over 5 years experience on different mill/turn CNC machines (Okuma, Mazak, Lathe, DMG, Matsura, Puma).
This role follows a day shift pattern and may in the future lead to a night shift pattern with overtime as requested. Candidates must be self‑certified and hold a quality stamp after the qualifying period. Security Clearance Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that in the event that clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role, and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
