Each BDM will focus on direct-to-client acquisition and the fast, repeatable placement of commercial risks with premiums between £5,000 and £20,000. The role prioritises Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines, requiring strong prospecting, quoting, and disciplined pipeline management.

We will count on you to:

  • Velocity & conversion: Drive fast sales cycle times through disciplined qualification, quoting, and follow-up to improve conversion rates.

  • Market insight: Provide market and insurer appetite intelligence to Product teams to help shape propositions for this segment.
  • Relationship building: Develop direct client relationships and, where appropriate, productive introducer or referral relationships that generate direct client leads.
  • Quality & governance: Ensure accurate record-keeping and adherence to Marsh internal policies and processes.

What you need to have:

  • A minimum of 18 months’ experience in commercial insurance sales (broker, MGA, insurer, or related role) with demonstrable results.
  • Proven track record in new business generation and pipeline delivery for high-volume, lower-premium commercial accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Combined, Contractors, and general commercial product lines relevant to the £5k–£20k band.
  • Practical experience with insurer quoting portals, open market placement, delegated authority, or panel management.
  • Excellent prospecting, time management, and pipeline management discipline.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial judgement; numerate and comfortable discussing pricing and profitability.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the local territory.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience building direct-to-client sales channels or referral relationships.
  • Industry qualifications (Cert CII / DipCII) or working towards them.
  • Experience with digital placement and high-volume quoting processes.
