Working at Bristol Myers Squibb is anything but usual. Here, uniquely interesting work happens every day, in every department. From optimizing a production line to the latest breakthroughs in cell therapy, this is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. You’ll get the chance to grow and thrive through opportunities uncommon in scale and scope, alongside high-achieving teams. Bristol Myers Squibb recognises the importance of balance and flexibility in our work environment. We offer a wide variety of competitive benefits, services and programmes that provide our employees with the resources to pursue their goals, both at work and in their personal lives.

What if your work directly shaped how life‑saving therapies reach the patients who need them most? That’s not a hypothetical here. It’s your day‑to‑day reality. At Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), we’re transforming the way cancer is treated and Cell Therapy sits at the very heart of that mission. But groundbreaking science alone doesn’t get treatments to patients.

The Role

We’re looking for a Director, Global Policy & Business Strategy Integration – Cell Therapy, a senior leader who can sit at the intersection of policy and commercial strategy and turn that complexity into real‑world progress for patients and the business. This isn’t a behind‑the‑scenes role. You’ll be the bridge between global policy thinking and on‑the‑ground execution, working directly with BMS’s senior leaders and shaping how Cell Therapy succeeds, not just scientifically but commercially and politically, across the world.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

  • Setting the strategic direction — You’ll lead the development and delivery of a Global Policy Strategy that’s fully aligned with BMS’s commercial priorities. That means working hand‑in‑hand with commercial, medical, market access, and R&D teams to make sure policy isn’t an afterthought — it’s embedded into every major business decision from day one.
  • Making global strategies work locally — You’ll partner directly with priority markets, helping them adapt global policy approaches to their own commercial and political landscapes. Every market is different; you’ll know how to flex without losing strategic coherence.
  • Shaping the environment Cell Therapy operates in — Through external advocacy and stakeholder engagement, you’ll build and nurture relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies, and industry groups. You won’t just react to the policy environment, you’ll help shape it.
  • Sitting at the leadership table — You’ll represent the Global Policy & Government Affairs function within the Cell Therapy Leadership Team, bringing policy insight into the room where strategic decisions are made.
  • Measuring what matters — You’ll design the frameworks that track whether policy initiatives are actually moving the needle, defining KPIs and reporting directly to senior leadership on real business impact.

What’s In It For You

  • Real influence, at scale. This role gives you direct accountability for one of BMS’s most exciting and strategically critical therapeutic areas. You won’t be advising from the sidelines you’ll be driving decisions that shape the trajectory of Cell Therapy globally.
  • A seat at the table, earned and respected. With executive presence expected and cultivated here, you’ll engage with the most senior leaders across BMS. This is a platform to build your profile in a way that few roles at this level can offer.
  • The chance to connect policy to purpose. Cell Therapy represents some of the most promising advances in our industry today. When your policy work succeeds, access improves, reimbursement frameworks are strengthened, and patients benefit.
  • A genuinely global remit. From cross‑functional collaboration across markets to engaging external stakeholders worldwide, you’ll operate at a truly international level, building expertise, relationships, and perspective that will define the next phase of your career.
  • Freedom to lead, not just manage. This is a role for someone who wants to build strategies, systems, relationships, and teams. You’ll have the autonomy to shape how policy integration works at BMS, and the support of a world‑class organisation behind you.

What We’re Looking For

You’re likely someone who has spent 10+ years navigating the world of public policy, government affairs, market access, or strategy, ideally within pharma or healthcare. You understand how complex organisations work, and more importantly, how to move them. You’ve led in matrixed environments before. You know how to bring people on the journey without having direct authority over them. You’re persuasive, strategic without losing sight of the practical, and globally minded without ignoring local nuance. Specifically, you’ll bring:

  • An advanced degree in business, public policy, law, political science, or a related field
  • Deep expertise in the pharmaceutical industry and an understanding of regulatory and policy landscapes across multiple markets
  • Exceptional communication skills from boardroom presentations to building consensus across diverse global teams
  • A proven track record of influential leadership, making things happen through relationships, not just hierarchy
  • A strategic mindset that connects long‑term vision with actionable operational plans
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, internally with executives, externally with government and industry bodies
