Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week

Location: HMS Raleigh, Cornwall

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for maintaining and day‑to‑day running of water safety equipment for HMS Raleigh and local outstations, utilising the water safety equipment log.
  • Act as a safety surface swimmer in a swimming pool environment to facilitate delivery of training.
  • Provide demonstrations of equipment and drills.
  • Act as expert end user for specified training equipment.
  • Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with.
  • You may also be required to carry out the following – training will be given:
    • Deliver instruction in seamanship aspects such as rigging (splicing), water safety equipment maintenance/supervision, sea survival techniques.
    • Undertake direct support tasks for training delivery activity, post‑delivery assessments and post‑delivery activities.

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience as a water safety equipment maintainer.
  • Competent swimmer.
  • Proficient in using IT within the workplace.

Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications

  • Sea survival instructor.
  • DTC (defence trainer course) or equivalent.
  • Experience in splicing various types of cordage.
  • Safety swimmer qualification.
  • RYA powerboat level 2 coxswains qualification.
  • Lifting equipment examiner.
