Moog Commercial Aircraft Group is looking for an experienced Sliding Head Lathe Setter who’s ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role. You’ll be an essential part of a high performing manufacturing cell, ensuring production targets are achieved and that every component meets strict quality standards. This position offers a competitive basic salary, a shift allowance, and an excellent benefits package, along with strong long-term career development opportunities.
Shift Pattern: 2-Week Rotating AM/PM. This role operates on a two-weekly rotation between AM and PM shifts.
- AM: Mon–Thurs 6:00am–2:15pm; Fri 6:15am–11:45am
- PM: Mon–Tues 2:00pm–9:15pm; Wed–Thurs 2:00pm–9:30pm; Fri 11:30am–7:30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate a range of Sliding Head Lathes
- Engage in daily problem solving and assist in driving enhancements to the manufacturing processes.
- Carry out inspection checks using a variety of manual and automated metrology equipment.
- Conduct self-inspections and complete necessary quality audits to obtain self-certification inspection stamps.
- Work from approved engineering drawings, inspection plans, and shop documentation, accurately recording required data.
- Adopt and implement lean manufacturing principles in line with Moog’s standards.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery as per company policy.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of 3 years experience setting Sliding Head lathes
- A recognized apprenticeship in machining or a related field
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work to extremely tight tolerances and have a perfectionist’s mentality to quality
- Proficient in inspecting components with diverse manual and automated metrology equipment to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Demonstrate daily problem solving skills and overcome challenges through the effective use of your own initiative
- The ability to read and interpret a range of different manufacturing drawings for complex components working in both metric and imperial.
- A good understanding of GD&T principles
- A positive attitude towards lean manufacturing tools and techniques, including 5S
