Moog Aircraft Group is recruiting for a Senior R&D Engineer to join our Research and Development team in Tewkesbury, UK. This is an opportunity to join an industry‑leading business that is both forward‑thinking and proactive, which means we’ll be looking for the same characteristics in you. Moog’s products are commonly used in safety‑critical aerospace applications, requiring the highest level of performance, integrity, and reliability.

This is an in‑depth hands‑on role contributing to the satisfactory design, analysis, development, testing, and qualification of complex flight and engine control products used on military and commercial aircraft. The successful applicant will be joining a team of Engineers and should therefore be a team player, a good communicator at all levels, and computer literate. From time to time there may be a need for overseas travel.

You should be able to demonstrate proven competence, experience, and initiative in the following disciplines as encountered within the Aerospace sector:

  • Mechatronic control systems including Electronic, Electro‑mechanical, Electro‑hydraulic components and sub‑systems
  • Mathematical performance modelling (e.g. Spice, Excel, MathCAD, MatLab/Simulink, FEA)
  • 3D design and 2D drawing creation
  • Some knowledge of aerospace materials and their properties
  • Awareness of common machining and fabrication processes
  • Development of assembly techniques and associated tooling
  • Development of qualification test methods
  • Compilation of clear and concise analysis and test reports
  • Aerospace configuration control and quality systems
  • Presentation of technical detail to the customer
  • Personal integrity, objectivity, and honesty
  • Awareness of project management principles
  • Ability to estimate worktime and overall durations for planned engineering tasks

Academic Qualifications: Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
