Our Opportunity:
We are looking for a Financial Reporting Controller to join our Under Water Systems (UWS) business. Reporting into the UWS Finance Director you will be responsible for the production of monthly management accounts, BOR and Magnitude reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and data, production of MYB, SBP and other financial forecasts as appropriate, liaison with external and internal auditors together with supporting the UWS Business Improvements Initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Prepare, report and review of monthly reporting in collaboration with the Finance Director.
- Prepare and report on B&P and SFRD spend (monthly actuals, MYB and Forecasts).
- P&L, Balance Sheet & Group templates: using the financial systems Oracle B1, TM1 and Magnitude.
- Review & prepare the Balance Sheet reconciliations, escalating where required Key R&Os.
- Provide accurate, timely and reliable financial information with supporting analysis & commentary as required.
- Support the development and maintain effective mechanisms for the review of MYB, and for the production of financial forecasts.
- Ensure ICQ is completed and maintained / Interface to TBSS where appropriate.
- Escalate risks & opportunities to the appropriate management level.
- To champion the transformation of the finance function through involvement of group finance initiatives.
About you:
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA and ACMA) or relevant experience, together with having significant experience of reporting, control environment, accounting rules and procedures, and experience working within a changing environment within a complex, multi‑site or multi‑entity organisations. You will demonstrate the ability to deliver at pace with focus whilst also seeking the “bigger picture”, driving improvements to our operations and efficiency. You will also possess good communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage and collaborate with finance and non‑finance professionals.

Our purpose is to be the leading provider of underwater sensors and decision superiority, helping navies across the world keep our friends, families and all of us safe. We cover four sectors: Mine Counter Measures, Anti‑Submarine warfare, Services and Future Capabilities.
Security Clearance Requirement:
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. If approved by the MOD, a dual national from a non‑ITAR country may be considered. To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
