As a Thermal Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee, maintain, and operate multi‑megawatt liquid‑cooled production systems, and support production difficulties. The ideal candidate has experience with thermal measurement and is passionate about technology and engineering. Other duties include designing and managing facility‑scale HVAC systems in a production environment and collecting data from IoT sensor networks such as temperature, humidity, and power.
You Will
- Create thermal simulation models from CAD to simulate HVAC systems for rack level, room level, and clean room performance.
- Program complex fan and pump control systems using large fields of sensor inputs, setting individual thermal limits, and setting fan and pump speed hysteresis controls for smooth steady state operation.
- Design, improve, and manage manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency and product quality in high density burn‑in rooms.
- Optimize liquid‑cooled production lines, troubleshoot equipment failures, implement quality control standards, and design new manufacturing systems and workstations.
- Control costs for liquid production facilities.
- Interpret sensor log data and analyse presenting into human‑readable formats but also according to various customers’ specifications using engineering principles.
- Operate and configure building management systems as pertains to thermal management systems.
- Present test reports to customers and accept customer feedback.
- Perform temperature measurements using thermocouples and IoT sensors.
- Collect data logs from test tools in Linux or Windows.
- Observe and report unexpected results or possible areas of opportunity.
- Regularly inspect measurement tools and repair or replace as required.
You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Thermal Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with strong emphasis on thermal engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with CDUs of all types including Liquid‑to‑Liquid, Liquid‑to‑Air, and Liquid‑to‑Refrigerant.
- Experience designing facility cooling plumbing systems (either chilled water or glycol‑based).
- Must have actually built, tested and refined project designs.
- Strong working knowledge of CFD and CAD software.
- Experience with thermocouples, IR cameras, airflow sensors, and power measurement.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience building personal computers or servers.
- Experience with environmental chambers.
- Fluency in Linux command line operation.
- Ability to examine customer requirements documents and build appropriate test plans for the manufacturing team.
- Possesses background knowledge of thermal measurement sciences.
- Familiarity with test instruments such as data loggers, volt meters, and power supplies.
- Proficiency in building thermal models preferably in Ansys CFD products.
- Works well as a team member but also independently.
- Pays close attention to detail.
- Communicates clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to people without an engineering background.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
- Exhibits familiarity with proper manufacturing safety procedures.
