We are looking for a proactive and highly organized Logistics Team Leader to play a vital role in supporting our manufacturing operation. In this position, you will help ensure materials are safely received, moved, stored, issued, and delivered to the right place at the right time — keeping production running efficiently and on schedule. This is a hands‑on role with real business impact. Timely and accurate material delivery is essential to the successful build of transformers, where delays can lead to significant commercial penalties. Your contribution will be critical in protecting quality, supporting operational flow, and enabling on‑time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the off‑loading of vehicles arriving from the off‑site storage warehouse
  • Manage the delivery of received kits to their designated point of use
  • Oversee the collection of empty kitting trolleys from across the factory
  • Coordinate vehicle backloads for return to the off‑site storage warehouse
  • Issue consignment stock both physically and accurately through SAP, including tapping cable
  • Support and manage on‑site waste streams
  • Ensure materials are delivered on time, without damage, deterioration, or loss

Scope of the Role

  • Load and unload goods from vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Move palletized or crated materials across the Lichfield Road site
  • Store materials in the correct storage zones in line with stock control procedures
  • Comply with GE LSP requirements and site standards
  • Carry out daily equipment checks, including battery charging and routine care of trucks
  • Assist with manual loading and unloading where required
  • Kit materials and components to ensure delivery to the correct area in line with the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
  • Enter data accurately into SAP, either remotely or directly, to maintain up‑to‑date material records
  • Maintain accurate storage documentation and inventory records
  • Preserve materials and components held within warehouse control, both internally and externally
  • Support the upkeep of logistics equipment through preventative care
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve materials operations
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives as required
  • Undertake routine cycle counts, stock takes, and discrepancy investigations
  • Follow all company policies and procedures relating to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within your capabilities

Why This Role Matters

Material delivery is a critical part of building transformers successfully and on time. Delays in delivery can have major operational and financial consequences, with liquidated damages potentially reaching hundreds of thousands of pounds. This role is essential in ensuring materials flow smoothly through the operation, helping the business meet customer commitments while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and accuracy.

Core Duties

  • Operate FLTs and cranes safely and effectively
  • Manage internal material movement across site
  • Maintain storage areas in a safe, organized, and efficient condition
  • Maintain accurate SAP materials data
  • Prepare and kit materials for manufacturing

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Good general education and proven experience in material handling.
  • Familiarity with computerized stores management systems (SAP knowledge is a plus) and understanding of Kanban/FIFO systems.
  • FLT operating experience/licence
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A high attention to detail
  • A safety‑first mindset
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
