As an HR Risk & Governance Advisor, you’ll play a key role in strengthening people risk management and governance across the HR function. Working closely with Risk, Compliance and senior stakeholders, you’ll help ensure robust oversight of HR regulatory obligations, particularly in relation to SMCR. You’ll be part of a small, specialist team and will take ownership of key processes, reporting and continuous improvement activity within HR risk and governance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the ongoing development and maturity of HR risk and governance practices
  • Providing oversight and coordination of HR-related SMCR processes and administration
  • Preparing and reviewing data for regulatory reporting, including Code of Conduct breach reporting
  • Maintaining the HR risk register and coordinating HR Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs)
  • Monitoring and reporting on key risk indicators and governance metrics
  • Supporting HR audits and acting as a subject matter expert on people risk matters
  • Reviewing regulated references and managing SMCR-related queries
  • Working with stakeholders to ensure accurate governance documentation, including responsibilities mapping
  • Contributing to HR risk and SMCR-related projects and process improvements

Whilst this isn’t a directly customer facing role, the duties you will perform support direct overall positive outcomes for our customers by enabling our leaders to make informed decisions which balance the trade-off between risk and reward and ensure regulatory compliance. This contributes to improved services, customer centric outcomes, stability, responsiveness, and overall customer satisfaction.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in risk, governance or compliance within a large, regulated organisation (financial services desirable)
  • Knowledge of the UK financial services regulatory environment and HR-related regulation
  • An understanding of SMCR and its practical application (desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A proactive, curious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
