Our team is looking for a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join the group developing Adobe’s Administration Platform — a collaborative and multi-skilled engineering team located in Edinburgh, crafting scalable, high-impact systems that serve millions globally.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, values clear communication, and wants to grow in an environment that invests in its people. Our engineers are at the forefront of integrating AI into the software development process — from intelligent code assistance to testing and automation, You’ll have the opportunity to help shape how we build software for the future — and you’ll do it alongside people who care deeply about software, inclusion, and each other.
What You Will Do
- Compose, build, and maintain reliable, high-performance backend services and APIs
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver end-to-end features
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help build technical direction
- Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code
- Help identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues
- Build tooling and automation to reduce operational burdens
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to an encouraging team culture
What We’re Looking For

- 2–6 years of professional backend engineering experience
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g. Java, Python, Go, Scala, Node.js)
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and microservices architecture
- Understanding of databases — relational and/or NoSQL
- Experience developing with Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and methodologies, including tools such as Argo CD
- Experience working with monitoring platforms like New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Exposure to infrastructure and deployment tooling such as Terraform, Docker, or Kubernetes
- A collaborative approach and clear written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity, a growth mindset, and a dedication to continuous learning
