The Quantity Surveyor will support the Commercial Manager as part of an integrated project team, contributing to the delivery of strong commercial outcomes for the Slough project. The role involves a blend of independent and collaborative tasks, completed to regular deadlines across the full commercial cycle.

Cost & Financial Management
- Contribute to Cost/Value Reconciliations and End-of-Life Cost Reporting.
- Prepare, submit, and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts, and subcontractor final accounts.
- Oversee subcontractor payments, certification, and financial administration.
- Lead cost monitoring and reporting activities.
Contract & Commercial Administration
- Manage NEC contract administration including early warnings, compensation events, and commercial records.
- Support dispute resolution and advise on contractual redress.
- Prepare subcontract scopes, packages, and tender documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective commercial relationships with subcontractors to optimise value and service quality.
- Submit Applications for Payment to the Client and engage regularly with the Client team.
- Collaborate closely with project management teams to ensure alignment and integration of commercial processes.
Site & Project Insight
- Conduct routine site visits to verify records, identify risks and opportunities, and support informed decision‑making.
Technical Competencies
- NEC contract knowledge and application.
- Contract law, tort, statutory obligations, and relevant legislation.
- Pre‑contract controls, scope evaluation, and procurement methodology.
- Data reporting, record‑keeping, and project controls including cost capture, forecasting, and measurement.
- Insurance, bonds, warranties, and commercial risk management.
- Planning and programming techniques, industry technologies, SHE standards, and quality systems.
- Ability to contribute to senior‑level discussions on strategy and issue resolution.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
- Degree in Quantity Surveying (desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Methodical, organised, and thorough in approach.
- Experience in public health, sanitation, or wastewater civil engineering projects (desirable).

Project description
The £80 million upgrade of Slough Sewage Treatment Works for Thames Water will be carried out by Ferrovial Construction and Cadagua, working together as a joint venture. This project aims to improve the resilience and sustainability of Slough STW, ensuring it meets tougher Environment Agency standards and achieves better environmental performance. Improvements include expanded treatment capacity, advanced systems for removing ammonia and phosphorus, upgraded storm‑flow management, and robust new power infrastructure. The partnership combines Ferrovial Construction’s expertise in UK infrastructure projects with Cadagua’s broad experience in international water treatment.
