We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Developer to work on our custom-built platform that is an online quote, bind and formal documentation issuance platform, which also offers a range of analytics to assist with underwriting, portfolio analysis and product performance. Your responsibilities will span both platform maintenance and projects. Example projects include consolidating products from an alternative platform, platform modernisation initiatives or other enhancements to our legacy platform.
The day to day:
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable server-side applications and services.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code using industry best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with the frontend team to integrate frontend components with server-side logic.
- Work with database administrator to ensure optimal data storage and retrieval.
- Optimize server applications for maximum speed, performance, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and debug server issues, providing timely solutions.
- Implement security and data protection measures.
About you:
- Extensive experience as a .NET Backend Developer or similar role.
- Proven high proficiency in .NET (C#) and SQL, including experience in ASP.NET, .NET Framework 4.8 and SQL Stored Procedures.
- If involved in any modernization initiatives, knowledge of these tools will be advantageous: .NET 10, EF Core, Test Containers, Minimal Endpoints.
- Experience with backend frameworks and libraries; ORM tools, Event Messaging etc.
- Familiarity with database systems, both relational and NoSQL.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and other web service technologies.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and test-driven development; unit, functional & non-functional testing.
- Security awareness and the ability to implement security best practices.
- Performance optimization and profiling skills.
- Experience with Azure; App Services, Azure Functions, Storage Accounts, ServiceBus, Managed Identities, KeyVault etc.
- Knowledge of version control systems, such as Git.
- Familiarity with clean architecture, event messaging and Domain Driven Design would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively, take initiative, problem solve, make decisions and turn ideas into code.
- Good communication skills, attention to detail and highly motivated.
- Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle process.
- Insurance experience is advantageous, but not mandatory.
- Ability to read Delphi code and use of RAD Studio advantageous.
