The Role The Senior Sales Relationship Manager is responsible for leading and growing strategic client relationships while delivering against revenue, trading volume and commercial objectives. This role combines direct client ownership with operational leadership, including the management, development and performance of a team. This individual will play a key role in driving sales strategy, deepening client engagement, and accelerating platform adoption across the UK institutional investor base.

How You’ll Help Take Us There

  • Client & Revenue Leadership
    • Own and develop relationships with key institutional clients, acting as a senior point of contact.
    • Drive trading activity, revenue growth and product penetration across assigned accounts.
    • Identify and execute new business opportunities within the UK institutional investor market.
    • Lead complex client engagements, including negotiations, strategic reviews and senior stakeholder discussions.
    • Partner with Product and other internal teams to deliver solutions aligned to client needs.
  • Sales Strategy & Execution
    • Contribute to and execute the regional sales strategy aligned to business objectives.
    • Monitor individual performance against targets and KPIs, taking corrective action where necessary.
    • Drive consistency in sales processes, pipeline management and reporting.
    • Use data and insights to inform decision‑making and prioritisation.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership on market strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Client Solutions, Product & Market Expertise
    • Maintain deep expertise in fixed income markets, including credit and emerging markets.
    • Articulate MarketAxess’ value proposition effectively across all product segments.
    • Oversee and support delivery of client presentations, analytics and insight‑driven materials.
    • Ensure clients are fully enabled on the platform, including onboarding, training and ongoing engagement.
    • Act as a senior escalation point for client issues and service delivery.
  • Operational & Commercial Excellence
    • Oversee the production of high‑quality client reporting, including trading activity and TCA.
    • Ensure strong governance around client onboarding, documentation and regulatory requirements.
    • Drive efficiency improvements within the team and sales processes.
    • Stay informed on platform developments and ensure effective communication to clients and team.
  • People Management
    • Assume increasing responsibility for leading, supporting and developing colleagues within the team.
    • Contribute to setting clear performance expectations, objectives and development plans for team members.
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to the team to enhance commercial capability, technical knowledge and client engagement.
    • Support performance review processes, including feedback and development discussions.
    • Promote a high‑performance, collaborative and accountable team culture.
    • Contribute to succession planning and talent development within the Sales function.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years experience in a sales, relationship management or client‑facing role within financial services.
  • Strong track record of revenue generation and client relationship management.
  • Deep understanding of fixed income markets and electronic trading platforms.
  • Experience operating in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Highly commercial, with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into execution.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including at senior levels.
