As a Senior Building Services Engineer within the Corporate Real Estate team, you will play a critical role in the technical design, coordination, and performance of workplace projects across the global portfolio. This role is focused on ensuring Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems and workplace infrastructure are technically robust, operationally effective, fully coordinated, and aligned with standards and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical review of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) system layouts, design strategies, equipment selections, and specifications across workplace projects globally.
  • Ensure engineering solutions are fully coordinated, buildable, maintainable, and aligned with operational requirements.
  • Review HVAC, ventilation, cooling, power, lighting, controls, plumbing, and associated workplace infrastructure systems for technical suitability and performance.
  • Challenge consultants and contractors to deliver efficient, resilient, and high‑performing building services solutions.
  • Review engineering calculations, technical submissions, equipment selections, and performance criteria to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Ensure MEP systems are coordinated effectively across architectural, structural, workplace, Security, IT/AV, and operational disciplines.
  • Lead multidisciplinary technical coordination reviews during RIBA Stages 3–4 and construction delivery.
  • Identify risks, clashes, technical gaps, and constructability concerns early in the design process and drive resolution with project teams.
  • Act as the technical integration lead for Security and IT/AV infrastructure within workplace environments.
  • Coordinate device locations, containment, power, cooling, and infrastructure requirements across all technical disciplines.
  • Ensure workplace technology systems are integrated seamlessly into the built environment and aligned with global standards.
  • Drive implementation of Equinix sustainability commitments through technically informed engineering solutions and specifications.
  • Support energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and environmental performance objectives across workplace projects.
  • Promote efficient plant selection, controls strategies, and system performance optimisation.
  • Support project teams throughout construction, responding to technical queries, RFIs, and coordination challenges.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, technical submittals, and equipment specifications for compliance with design intent and operational requirements.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and validation activities to ensure systems perform as intended.

Key Competencies:

  • Deep technical expertise in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems and workplace infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, controls integration, and workplace engineering strategies.
  • Ability to review and challenge engineering designs, specifications, and equipment selections in detail.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination and technical integration capability.
  • Excellent understanding of constructability, commissioning, operational performance, and maintainability.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and technical excellence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Approximately 8–12 years of experience in building services engineering, MEP design, or technical engineering delivery within commercial workplace or complex projects.
  • Strong experience in HVAC and workplace environmental systems, electrical infrastructure and workplace power systems, construction‑stage technical delivery and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in Revit (preferred), technical engineering documentation and specifications, workplace and commercial interiors.
  • Preferred: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent, CIBSE membership/accreditation, LEED/BREEAM approved practitioner.
