As our UK Schemes portfolio continues to expand, we’re looking for an experienced Schemes Account Manager to take ownership of some of our most strategically important delegated authority relationships. This is a high-impact role at the heart of our fastest-growing distribution channel, offering genuine influence, senior exposure and the opportunity to shape how Schemes perform across Markel UK.

Why this role matters

Our Schemes team is the centre of excellence for all delegated authority business within the NMUK Broker Channel. You will own and oversee a cross‑class portfolio of Scheme arrangements, working closely with broker and MGA partners, underwriters and internal teams to drive strong performance, profitable growth and long‑term sustainability. This is not traditional account management. It’s about scheme oversight, performance leadership and trusted broker partnerships, all rolled into one.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Lead Scheme performance and oversight: Own the day-to-day management and governance of your Scheme portfolio. Run structured Quarterly Business Reviews with underwriters and brokers. Analyse underwriting, claims and operational MI to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Deliver clear commentary and recommendations to drive profitable outcomes.
  • Be the trusted relationship lead: Act as the primary point of contact for broker and MGA partners. Build strong, credible relationships internally and externally. Manage expectations, provide timely responses and resolve issues confidently. Support renewals, defensive tenders and retention strategies.
  • Drive growth and continuous improvement: Support the onboarding of new Schemes and development opportunities. Work closely with Broker Development to support trading partner strategies. Contribute insights into the wider Schemes growth and retention plan. Champion service excellence and continuous improvement across delegated business.
  • Ensure strong governance: Work with Operations, Governance & Oversight, and Claims to meet DA requirements. Support delegated authority controls, data quality and reporting standards. Ensure Schemes operate in line with Markel’s governance and compliance framework.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in delegated authority / Schemes within the UK Broker or MGA market.
  • A strong background in account management with a track record of managing Scheme portfolios.
  • Confidence analysing performance data and translating insight into action.
  • Experience leading broker reviews, renewals and performance discussions.
  • Strong partner management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • A proactive, self‑starting outlook and a passion for building long‑term relationships.
