Job Description
As a Procurement / Supplier Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and expert oversight for high-value, mission-critical supplier contracts. You will act as the primary commercial lead, ensuring all contractual arrangements are robust, compliant, and optimised to support the delivery of essential communications services to UK blue light customers. You will bridge the gap between technical, operational, finance and legal functions, translating complex contractual obligations into actionable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Contract Leadership: Lead the full 3rd party contract lifecycle for key strategic and operational suppliers, encompassing the entire journey from mobilisation and performance management to renewal or exit strategies.
- Commercial Negotiation & Governance: Lead negotiations for complex contract changes, renewals, and new service agreements. Ensure all commercial agreements align with company strategy, risk appetite, and Delegation of Authority (DOA) processes.
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Provide expert guidance on UK and European contract law, data protection, and regulatory requirements specific to the telecommunications sector. Manage complex contract change requests by evaluating customer requirements and coordinating with legal and commercial teams. Maintain consistent adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 2000 standards as a critical contractual commitment to our key customers.
- Performance & Risk Management: Monitor supplier performance against rigorous SLAs and KPIs. Drive continuous improvement through Service Improvement Plans (SIPs). Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and supply chain risks, establishing robust contingency plans.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee supplier costs to ensure compliance with agreed contract rates. Validate charges and service credits, and work closely with finance teams to track expenditures against budgets and identify cost-saving initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, technical operational leads, legal, and finance. Chair strategic supplier review meetings to drive accountability and alignment.
- Team Development: Support procurement team, promoting best practices and developing commercial acumen within the team.
Basic Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- Professional Certification: Membership or certification from a relevant body (e.g., MCIPS or WorldCC) is highly desirable.
- Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience in contract or supplier management within the telecommunications, IT services, or mission-critical infrastructure sectors.
- Legal Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of English contract law, with working knowledge of relevant European regulatory frameworks.
- Commercial Acumen: Proven success in negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing high-value, multi-site service portfolios.

- Expertise in document drafting, review, and contract lifecycle management software.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret performance data and financial models.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, comfortable presenting to and negotiating with senior executive stakeholders.
- Full UK driving license and flexibility to travel within the UK as required.
