The Solutions organization of Aven Hospitality is responsible for positioning and crafting a value proposition to achieve high-level business outcomes for our customers. They are consultative in their approach and product/technical experts, partnering with Sales and Account Management, Delivery and Product teams to find an optimal product implementation which ensures maximum alignment between Aven Hospitality capabilities and customer requirements.
The Principal Solutions Engineer is a Hospitality and Aven Hospitality product functionality expert who can partner with Sales and Account Management (SAM) teams to sell to new customers by building a viable value product proposition. As Principal Solution Engineer, you will combine deep technical aptitude with strong business acumen to create high quality engagement opportunities for prospective and existing customers. Solutions Engineers own the product activities required throughout the sales cycle from creating highly engaging presentations, value-based demos, defining customer business requirements to developing & running POCs through deal execution. They define complex solutions to deliver on customer business requirements. They customize product presentations to assist SAM teams. They act as coach and mentor to junior members of the team, as well as being an advocate for our Aven Hospitality products and services in the industry through attendance at industry events and thought leadership. This role works closely with the Solution Architect role and with customers to design and execute on solutions that drive revenue, shorten product time to market, and reduce cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Participates in the review and response of proactive sales opportunities and RFPs
- Understands and interprets customer business needs and drivers
- Maps the capabilities of our Product and Platform to create a solution that meets customer needs
- Determines how best to meet customer business needs through product configuration or identifying where product enhancements may be needed to address gaps
- Engages from requirement gathering phase through implementation with continuous involvement as required
- Collaborates with Solution Architects on efforts across development, infrastructure, and security
- Assists with onboarding and mentoring of Solution Engineers
- Facilitates the intake process for customer-initiated enhancement requests
- Manages complex and strategic projects when existing customers bring forwards a project that requires subject matter expertise that is above and beyond our Customer Care Team and/or Account Management team.
Key Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Experience working with Sales/Account Management teams to build a competitive solution and value proposition
- Exceptional communications (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding project/program management skills
- Ability to influence technical and business stakeholders through credibility, clarity, and trust
- Deep knowledge of the hospitality distribution landscape and the Aven product portfolio
- Ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams to represent the customer voice with Product and Engineering
- Willing and able to travel occasionally (up to 25%)
Qualifications / Experience
- 5+ yrs of sales engineering, solutions consulting, or implementation consulting experience
- Bachelors degree in Technology, Engineering or Hospitality Management desirable
- 5+ yrs Experience in Hospitality/Distribution industry
- Experience with project management or implementing complex or enterprise level projects
- Experience with SaaS software technology
- Ability to discuss security, privacy, and compliance concepts such as SOC2, ISO 27001, GDPR, data residency, and access controls
