Arriva Cymru Limited is seeking a skilled PSV/HGV engineer with demonstrable electrical experience to maintain and repair our fleet of buses and heavy goods vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on PSV (Public Service Vehicle) and HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) fleets, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and steering mechanisms.
  • Diagnose and rectify complex electrical faults and system malfunctions using diagnostic equipment and schematics.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks and adhere to scheduled service intervals to minimise breakdowns and maximise vehicle uptime.
  • Carry out vehicle modifications and component replacements in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and on time, including job cards, defect reports, and service sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and VOSA standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation or overtime as required to support operational needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and management to resolve technical issues and improve workshop efficiency.

Job Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience as a PSV or HGV Engineer in a workshop environment.
  • Demonstrable expertise in diagnosing and rectifying complex electrical systems and faults on modern commercial vehicles.
  • Full UK driving licence, preferably with PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle) and/or HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) entitlements.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment specific to PSVs and HGVs.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle safety regulations and VOSA requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
