This position is for a QA Engineer to work on application development projects. You must have experience working in QA roles. You will be responsible for defining, executing and maintaining manual and automated test scenarios, working closely within your SCRUM team. You will be expected to understand the software testing lifecycle within the project. You must be able to communicate effectively, be proactive and highly involved in team participation.

The B Side: Skills & Experience

  • Be Technical
    • Confident creating and maintaining high quality test suites and test cases
    • Define functional and non-functional tests using the BDD approach, ensuring adequate depth and breadth of test coverage
    • Determine and implement the test plan, set testing standards and test metrics
    • Ensure traceability of testing against the requirements, define the approach and the process for end to end testing across the application and dependent systems
    • Ensure that the content in the test scenarios satisfies the business requirements and contributes to successful test execution
    • Develop automated test case scripts where applicable and enrich the regression test suites based on the defined test plan
    • Maintain scripts for data validation and play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our data
    • Implement data quality standards and processes, monitor and report on data quality metrics
    • Contribute to best practices both within the project QA team and across the wider team. Drive the usage of QA frameworks and tools and support continuous improvement
    • Work closely with our data teams to identify and resolve any issues with data quality, including missing data, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies
    • Actively support Agile development methods and best practices
    • Assist business test team (UAT)
    • Have experience maintaining automated testing frameworks
    • Manage and own the software testing lifecycle within the project
    • Troubleshoot data issues, looking at log files to understand root cause
    • Using Jira to track defects and tasks
  • Be Collaborative
    • Maintain balanced relationships across the business community, technical team, and IT vendors
    • Manage client requests and expectations
    • Proactively and consistently communicate task status
    • Communicate risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies to appropriate stakeholders and escalate if necessary to ensure the project’s success

Person Specification

  • Necessary
    • Proven experience in software testing within a full lifecycle software engineering environment, preferably in an agile or iterative development methodology
    • Ability to communicate with user community, project management, developers, contractors, and all levels of management
    • Strong experience of test planning, execution and maintenance of test scenarios
    • Ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team
    • Basic test automation skills, understanding or test automation tools and concepts such as Unit Testing, Component Testing, System Testing
    • Curious to learn and interested in solving challenges
    • Solid knowledge of SQL, experience with data driven testing
    • Understanding of risk identification and analysis
    • Hands‑on experience of manual web testing
    • Experience in defining and executing functional and non-functional tests
    • Experience in testing front-end and back end‑processes
    • Must be self‑motivated and eager to learn
    • Solid understanding of software testing concepts and methodologies, and their function within SDLC
    • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and synthesizing skills
    • Ability to explain concepts, solutions clearly & concisely and have excellent communications skills
    • Good understanding of database structure
    • Hands‑on SQL skills, i.e. writing and executing queries
    • Experience working with large datasets and be detail‑oriented

    • Experience working within cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS or similar)
    • Experience with ETL verification, data migration verification and data quality control
    • Experience with test automation tools and strategies, REST API automation or similar
    • Experience with ETL Works or similar
    • Experience with data modelling
    • GitHub knowledge or similar
    • Experience using BI reporting tools and products
    • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, TestRail or similar
