Shape safety in the world of TV, film, and live events. Do you want to work behind the scenes of some of the most exciting productions in television, film, and events? If so, this could be the perfect next step in your career. First Option (an ERM Group Company) is the industry leader in production safety, wellbeing, and sustainability — supporting hundreds of projects every year across the UK and around the world. We’re looking for a Health and Safety Consultant to join our growing team, ideally based in London or within a one‑hour commute.

This is a varied, fast‑paced role where no two days look the same. One day you might be on location with a high‑end TV production, carrying out recces and producing risk assessments; the next, you could be supporting stunt or SFX sequences abroad, advising on studio safety, or helping deliver large‑scale events with thousands of attendees. You’ll be the person who helps creative teams bring their ideas to life safely — offering practical advice, training, and on‑site support that enables productions to push boundaries without compromising wellbeing. If you thrive with autonomy, enjoy problem‑solving, and want a role where your expertise genuinely shapes outcomes, you’ll find this work both stimulating and rewarding.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide timely, professional health and safety advice to clients and production teams.
  • Offer on‑site support for a wide range of activities, from studio shoots to high‑risk location work.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring and audits of contractors, recommending practical risk‑reduction measures.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to meet client needs.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of safety resources and best practice.
  • Investigate accidents and produce clear, compliant reports.
  • Monitor and audit the effectiveness of risk management systems.
  • Keep clients informed of key issues and work collaboratively to resolve them.

What we’re looking for

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Technical IOSH membership and working towards Certified status (or IIRSM equivalent).
  • Confident using Microsoft Office or similar tools.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in a health and safety role (advisor or consultant).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation and guidance.
  • Ability to balance operational priorities with safety requirements.
  • Highly organised, with strong prioritisation skills.
  • Able to influence and support stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comfortable working independently and making sound decisions.
  • Within reasonable commuting distance of London and surrounding studio hubs.

Desirable

  • Experience in TV, film, media, or events.
  • Training delivery experience (online and in‑person).
  • Fire risk assessment qualification (or working towards IFSM Tier Register).
  • Experience managing H&S on construction sites, including construction phase plans and F10 notifications.

Who you are

  • Professional, self‑disciplined, and confident communicating with diverse teams.
  • A natural facilitator who can work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Adaptable, pragmatic, and comfortable in fast‑moving environments.
  • Analytical, perceptive, and able to challenge constructively.
  • Delivery‑focused, proactive, and able to lead when required — including stepping into Head of Department roles for some clients.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Excellent development and progression opportunities.
  • A friendly, supportive, and collaborative working environment.
  • Hybrid working when not required on client sites.
  • The chance to work on unique, high‑profile projects where your impact is visible and valued.

If you’re excited by the idea of supporting some of the most creative teams in the industry — and you want a role where your expertise helps productions stay safe while achieving their vision — we’d love to hear from you.
