Job Details

  • Location: Preston
  • Hours/Shifts: 45 hours per week, varied shifts to include mornings, evenings and every 2nd Saturday.
  • Salary/rate: £16.43 per hour plus benefits below

This role is in support of Cencora’s wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.

Job Purpose: To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to the customer within the corporate guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • To maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.
  • To have a daily check to ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition including a check of the lights, brakes, coolant, etc.
  • To report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
  • To maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with the cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • To ensure sufficient quantities of fuel have been taken for the day’s work.
  • To maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
  • To check all orders shown on the drop sheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.
  • To collect goods returned for credit, mail, delivery bins and their safe return to the branch at times instructed by the branch management.
  • Ensure damages/breakages are dealt with promptly and correctly with due regard to special procedures for Hazchem’s.
  • To maintain a smart appearance at all times.
  • To help maintain good customer relations.
  • To be involved in other duties including warehouse tasks as defined by the Management.
  • Meet all Health & Safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • A full driving license must be held relevant to the vehicle being driven.
  • For insurance purposes, all drivers must be over 21 years of age.
  • Whilst we do not ask for a clean license, we will assess the risk of employing applicants who have points on their license and this may affect our decision to shortlist.
  • Existing employees must update fleet services accordingly with any changes to their license status e.g. points on their license, driving bans etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
