About the Role

The PR Specialist will drive the growth of the Skechers Performance division across the UK & Ireland by developing and executing strategic PR campaigns across print, broadcast, digital, and influencer channels. If you have established contacts in performance and sporting press and experience in Athletic, Performance Sports or Footwear PR, we want you to join our team as a Skechers PR Specialist – Performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • The role is responsible for crafting and delivering targeted media pitches tailored to the Performance division’s key demographics, securing high-impact placements and editorial stories across relevant sports and category media.
  • The position oversees content and product calendars, monitors market trends and emerging technologies within the UK performance sports landscape and cultivates relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOL’s), sports influencers, and specialist media.
  • Acting as a brand ambassador, the role represents Skechers at press events, trade shows, and brand activations, while serving as the primary point of contact for athletes.
  • The role works in close collaboration with Corporate and Sports Marketing teams and liaises with European markets and India to identify and maximise PR opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Athletic, Performance Sports or Footwear PR.
  • Established contacts in performance and sporting press.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, complemented by strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively within deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the UK to meet with press, editors, influencers, attend trade shows and Skechers hosted events.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail and effective prioritisation to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours, weekends and extended hours when necessary.
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to changing priorities, responding with agility and strategic thinking in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Passionate about sports and a proven knowledge of Performance Sport PR, trade and consumer marketing.
  • Must display a high degree of professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and experience using Adobe Photoshop and Meltwater.
