As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with daily activities, monitoring health status, and assisting clinical staff with treatments and procedures. This position follows a three-shift rotating schedule per week, including days, evenings, and nights, offering variety and flexibility in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are attentive, dependable, and committed to creating a safe, respectful, and patient-centered experience. You will have opportunities to contribute to care delivery, build clinical skills, and participate in ongoing learning within a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, hands-on patient support by:
- Assisting with activities of daily living, including hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, comfort, and safety
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs, patient weight, intake/output, and other key data
- Completing assigned patient treatments and supporting clinicians with more advanced procedures
- Support clinical care and diagnostics by:
- Performing phlebotomy and EKGs
- Applying Holter monitors and performing glucometry
- Collecting, labeling, and preparing specimens accurately
- Enhance the patient experience by:
- Responding promptly to patient call lights and ensuring concerns are resolved
- Transporting discharged patients safely
- Providing one-to-one observation when needed
- Collaborate and grow within the care team by:
- Participating in patient care rounds
- Attending conferences and educational programs as appropriate
- Maintaining required unit competencies
- Ensure readiness and compliance by:
- Maintaining BCLS certification
- Attending the annual Safety Education Fair
