About the Role
6–10 Month Fixed Term Contract
The Account Manager is responsible for managing and retaining a portfolio of Pharma and Veterinary accounts, driving revenue growth through strong relationship management, strategic account planning, and a consultative sales approach. This role requires a deep understanding of customer needs, the ability to use data to inform decisions, and a proactive approach to identifying cross‑selling opportunities across journal and non‑journal products.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Manage a portfolio of ~100–200 accounts, owning revenue targets and renewal performance
- Develop and execute strategic account plans, setting clear objectives and evolving strategies throughout the year
- Analyse customer usage data and performance trends to monitor account health and address risks proactively
- Lead renewals and renegotiations, ensuring compliance and managing associated documentation
- Identify and drive cross‑selling opportunities aligned to institutional research needs
- Research customer organisations to understand priorities and tailor solutions accordingly
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across client organisations
- Deliver data‑driven negotiations to achieve successful commercial outcomes
- Maintain accurate CRM records and provide regular forecasting updates
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Customer Success, Sales Operations, and Editorial
- Represent the business at relevant industry conferences and events
- Act as a key point of contact for agency partners, maintaining regular communication
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience managing strategic accounts and consistently hitting sales targets
- Experience in complex, consultative sales environments
- Strong ability to understand institutional research and teaching needs
- Demonstrated success in identifying and converting cross‑selling opportunities
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly via email
- Ability to manage your own book of business independently
- Track record of exceeding revenue targets using a consultative sales approach
- Growth mindset with a strong focus on revenue generation
