Forming part of the Site Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering will lead a team of skilled Manufacturing and Project Engineers in a high volume, highly invested medical device manufacturing facility operating in a cleanroom environment. The primary objective of this role is to drive process optimisation that improves both capacity and capability as measured across the day‑to‑day dimensions of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Productivity (cost). The role will also lead the delivery of key capacity replacement, expansion or optimisation projects on time, within scope, and to budget.

Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineering Team will adopt leadership of escalated instances of interruption in good quality output, utilising advanced problem solving tools in concert with expert technical skills to return manufacturing capability to standard. This is a hands on leadership role requiring both technical expertise and the ability to develop capability within a highly skilled team. The role will work collaboratively alongside the Senior Manager Engineering Reliability, Product Engineering Leader, QARA functions, and other members of the Site Senior Leadership Team to meet the needs of our customers, Associates and Shareholders by delivering good quality medical products & membranes in a safe and productive manner.

What you will do:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of talented & driven Manufacturing & Project Engineers to foster a culture of daily accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence through the use of Daily Management, Problem Solving, Standard Work, 5S, Variation Reduction, Value Stream Mapping and other tools within the Danaher Business System (DBS).
  • Drive process optimisation through Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to world‑class standards, ensuring high line availability, minimisation of product scrap, and maximisation of yield through the utilisation of data collection and analysis to drive decisions and prioritised improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain compliant product quality through robust engineering practices and adherence to GMP standards.
  • Accountable for leading engineering projects and ensuring they deliver measurable results on key business KPIs including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost.
  • Deliver cost savings by improving process capability, increasing productivity, reducing waste, and integrating new technologies and best practices to maintain world‑class manufacturing standards.
  • Identifying business continuity risks related to manufacturing processes and lead equipment upgrades to safeguard against obsolescence and regulatory changes that may impact continuity of supply.
  • Generate and improve people & process documentation including Skills Matrices, Specifications, Statistical Process Controls, Problem Solving, Process Validation and Project Management.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Strong background in high‑speed automated assembly, including robotic systems, control & vision systems, and advanced plastic assembly/welding technologies (Ultrasonic, RF).
  • Demonstrated success in increasing manufacturing capacity, implementing new equipment/processes, and leading major optimisation initiatives to improve yield, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Skilled in change‑control, product/process validation, and structured problem‑solving methodologies (5Whys, A3, Ishikawa, DMAIC, 8D), leveraging data‑driven tools like SPC and OEE.
  • Resilient, adaptable leader with strong communication and influencing skills; able to prioritise and delegate in fast‑paced environments while fostering trust and motivating teams toward shared goals.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Step in to support the leadership of other functional areas during periods of absence or where cross functional leadership is required.
  • Represent the Site Leader or Site on cross‑site / business unit priorities as and when required.
