Lead Electrical Engineer in the Central Engineering team based in Newport, Wales, UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and document circuits for new projects.
- Lead Design Reviews with multi-functional teams.
- Select and detail new parts.
- Request quotations and place orders for prototype and pre‑production builds.
- Work closely with and manage suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved.
- Address and resolve product issues through the product lifecycle phases.
- Develop the assembly procedures (Operational Method Sheets) for new assemblies, so the prototype assembly proceeds smoothly.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline) or hold equivalent level of qualification.
- Strong documentation skills, with knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, and other Microsoft365 tools.
- Experience in system‑level Electrical Design Engineering with power distribution and communication circuits.
- The candidate must be a self‑motivated engineer with the ability to multi‑task and work independently as part of a team.
- You will also have the inherent desire to expand their knowledge through self‑study and continuing education and training.
- Strong communication skills are needed for extensive interaction with vendors and team members.
Desirable Experience
- Development and installation experience with safety circuits.
- Semiconductor‑industry experience is a plus (knowledge of SEMI standards).
- Familiarity with mains supply safety and design protocols.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance is a plus.
- PLC implementation and programming skills are a plus.
- Ability to diagnose problems and hands‑on problem‑solving experience for sophisticated electrical subsystems.
- Enjoy working on leading‑edge technologies.
