The Role We're looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to help deliver secure, scalable, and resilient platforms supporting critical national infrastructure. You'll be embedded in an Agile team, owning quality, automation, and operational excellence across the full delivery lifecycle. This is a hands-on engineering role — you'll design and build automated test frameworks, validate deployments across AWS multi-account environments, and ensure platforms are continuously production-ready.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive automated test framework supporting CI/CD
- Develop test strategies, plans, and approaches — and get stakeholder sign-off
- Deliver functional, integration, and performance tests across an AWS multi-account environment
- Provide 3rd line support and technical expertise to client engineering teams
- Contribute to platform reliability, scalability, and security through proactive testing and automation
- Keep documentation, test artefacts, and processes clear and aligned to DevOps best practices
- Use Confluence for documentation and Jira for story and workflow management
What We're Looking For
- Test Automation & Quality
- Hands-on with test automation frameworks — Selenium, JUnit, PyTest, TestNG
- Proven track record in functional, regression, performance, and security testing
- Experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- DevOps & CI/CD
- Practical experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or CircleCI
- Comfortable embedding testing gates and quality controls into automated delivery workflows
- Cloud, Containers & Infrastructure
- AWS experience — ideally across multi-account environments
- Docker and Kubernetes for containerised application testing
- Familiarity with Terraform and Ansible for IaC validation
- Programming & Scripting
- Strong Python, Bash, or PowerShell skills for automation
- API testing with Postman or REST Assured
- Observability & Reliability
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack
- Comfortable using observability data to validate deployment success and system health
- Agile/Scrum team experience — working closely with developers, SREs, and ops engineers
- Strong communication skills — you can advocate for testing best practices across teams
Experience & Education
- 3–5 years software testing experience, with at least 1–2 years in a DevOps environment
- Prior roles: QA Engineer, Test Automation Engineer, or DevOps Engineer with a testing focus
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)
- ISTQB Certified Tester or equivalent
