The role
We’re looking for a Network Development Planner to support our UK Bus Franchising Bid Team in designing efficient, compliant and cost-effective bus networks. Working closely with the Network Development Lead, you’ll produce timetables, driver duties and rosters, analyse cost and performance impacts, and support high‑profile franchising bids that shape future services across the UK.
Location & travel
Your base location will be agreed with you. Being near a larger Arriva site (e.g. Thurmaston, Luton, Aintree or Lacon) is helpful but not essential. Travel will be required and may involve working in different regions for several months at a time.
Key responsibilities
- Design compliant timetables and bus workings
- Produce efficient driver duties and rosters within regulatory and agreement requirements
- Maintain accurate scheduling data and produce required outputs (e.g. TransXChange, hours & miles)
- Assess driver and vehicle cost impacts of timetable changes
- Review schedules to improve punctuality and profitability
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, Local Transport Authorities and consultants
- Deputize for the Network Development Lead when required

- Experience in transport planning and resource scheduling
- Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness
- Comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Confident communicator with stakeholders at all levels
- Resilient, organized and able to meet challenging deadlines
Desirable: Experience using Optibus or similar scheduling systems.
