A Technician working within our Pest Control service line is responsible for inspecting, identifying and eliminating pest infestations in residential, commercial, and industrial properties. You will utilise a variety of methods, including chemical and non-chemical methods such as traps, and exclusion techniques along with the deployment of technology to ensure properties remain free of pests. This role requires a combination of technical skills, customer service, and a strong understanding of pest control products, pest biology and associated legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect customer premises and provide reports on levels of pest infestation to determine the most effective solution to eradicate the pests – these visits will be a mixture of planned maintenance and reactive/one off jobs.
  • Determine the extent of infestations and assess environmental conditions that may contribute to pest problems.
  • Safely and in line with legislation apply insecticides and rodenticides along with other pest control solutions as needed.
  • Select appropriate treatments based on the pest type, location, and environmental considerations.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their concerns, explain treatment plans, and offer advice on preventing future infestations such as sealing entry points and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Provide information on the risks of pest-related issues and recommend corrective actions to avoid future problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, chemicals used, PPE and pest control solutions implemented.
  • Complete service reports and log details of customer visits, treatments, and follow-ups using a digital handheld device.
  • Maintain and clean pest control equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition.
  • Safely store chemicals and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, local regulations, and industry standards regarding the use of pesticides and pest control methods.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, in line with legislation and guidance.
  • Perform follow-up inspections and services as needed to ensure pest eradication is achieved.

Requirements

  • Proven pest control experience along an industry recognised qualification such as the RSPH Level 2 in Pest Control or similar.
  • Member of either BPCA Registered or BASIS Prompt CPD schemes since 01/01/2025.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role and understands the importance of providing an outstanding service to our customers.
  • Full UK Manual Driving license, with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
