Join Our Friendly, Supportive Mixed Practice

Greenside Vets is looking for an enthusiastic and personable Veterinary Surgeon to join our close-knit team. This is a rare opportunity to become part of a genuinely supportive, family‑feel practice where colleague wellbeing, teamwork, and professional development are at the heart of everything we do.

There will be a requirement to work at other sites when needed (Jedburgh and Hawick), both only a 20‑minute drive away. We are seeking a vet with 2 year+ experience and excellent communication skills who enjoys both companion animal work and large animal practice. The role is primarily small animal focused, with a farm on‑call component.

At Greenside, we pride ourselves on maintaining an open, honest, and collaborative culture. Individual interests and career goals are encouraged, and we are committed to creating an environment where every team member feels valued and supported.

Our Small Animal Service

You’ll enjoy a varied caseload with a good balance of consulting and surgical work, while also having the opportunity to develop your own interests and areas of expertise. Facilities include:

  • DR X‑ray
  • New ultrasound machine
  • Bronchoscopy and gastroscopy equipment

We also have a growing orthopaedic caseload and regularly perform advanced soft tissue procedures in‑house.

Our Large Animal Service

Greenside Vets has a strong and established farm client base, primarily consisting of beef and sheep work, with minimal dairy involvement. We also work with camelids and goats, and no equine work. Our purpose‑built Large Animal Unit includes:

  • Two Easi‑Scan ultrasound scanners
  • Bull and tup fertility testing equipment
  • In‑house hospitalisation facilities
  • Calf warmer and full farm equipment setup

We also provide pool cars, so there’s no need to use your own vehicle for farm visits. Our out‑of‑hours service is well supported by a dedicated on‑call nurse who assists the vet when required. Our nursing team is proactive, experienced, and genuinely collaborative – they expect to be called in when needed.
