Maintenance Engineer
Position: Maintenance Engineer – Location: Markham Vale site, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK. Work Hours: 12‑hour day shift (7 am‑7 pm) on a 2‑week rotating cycle, including every other weekend. The role requires onsite cover during holiday absences.
Responsibilities
- Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance activities and support the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system
- Ensure plant equipment is maintained for safe, efficient, and continuous operation
- Follow all legal, regulatory, and company engineering standards
- Assist with installation and implementation of capital projects
- Support the control and coordination of contractors on site
- Work collaboratively within the Maintenance team to achieve objectives
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality performance
- Follow risk assessments, permits, and safe systems of work at all times
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in areas of responsibility
- Act as a proactive and responsible member of the engineering team
Qualifications
- Time served engineering qualifications or equivalent experience
- Good general level of education
- Experience in a processing or manufacturing environment (preferred 5+ years)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Good numerical, communication, and reasoning abilities
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices (or willingness to develop)
