As a Tool Hire Assistant at Jewson, you will play a key role in ensuring customers receive safe, well‑maintained equipment and excellent service. As part of the role, you will be required to drive a 3.5‑tonne van to deliver and collect customer orders, so a full UK driving licence is essential. This is a full‑time role working Monday‑Friday 07:00‑16:30 or 07:30‑17:00, with the requirement of working every other Saturday from 08:00‑12:00.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver day‑to‑day tool hire activities, deploying resources to ensure efficient, effective and safe operations.
- Lead by example in developing strong relationships through regular customer interaction, supporting the team to maximise growth through pro‑active cross‑selling.
- Deliver and collect customer orders in a timely manner, ensuring orders are accurate and all equipment is secured and loaded/off‑loaded safely in accordance with company procedures.
- Support branch colleagues in building knowledge and competence in tool hire product.
- Conduct pre‑delivery checks to ensure tools and machinery are clean, safe, and fully operational.
- Complete all relevant delivery paperwork and record keeping.
- Inspect, test, and carry out basic repairs on a range of tools and small plant (e.g., breakers, saws, mixers, access equipment).
