About Us

Appvia is a specialist cloud, platform engineering, and AI enablement consultancy, helping organisations design, build, and operate modern cloud platforms at scale. We work across public and private sector organisations, delivering outcomes in complex and highly regulated environments. Our focus is on enabling teams to improve delivery performance, adopt modern engineering practices, and build secure, scalable platforms that support long‑term change. Our work spans cloud migration, platform engineering, DevOps transformation, and developer enablement, combining strong engineering expertise with pragmatic delivery.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex technology programmes across Appvia’s customer engagements. This role sits within our Delivery team, reporting to a Principal Delivery Manager, and working closely with engineering leadership and client stakeholders. You will manage multi‑team and multi‑stream delivery, ensuring that programmes are delivered effectively while maintaining high standards across delivery, engineering, and stakeholder engagement.

This is not a passive delivery role. We seek someone who actively enables and protects delivery teams, removing blockers, managing complexity, and creating the conditions for engineers to succeed. You will operate as the “umbrella” for the team, taking ownership of delivery challenges rather than escalating them without resolution.

While deep platform engineering expertise is not required, you should have a strong technical foundation, with the ability and interest to engage with cloud, DevOps, and platform engineering concepts.

Interview Process – 3 stages

  • Initial conversation with our Talent Acquisition Manager
  • Technical interview with the Hiring Manager
  • Leadership final interview

Security Clearance Eligibility

  • British Citizen or ILR
  • Have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years
  • No criminal record
  • No financial irregularities

Requirements

About You

You are an experienced Delivery Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex technology programmes, particularly within regulated or public sector environments. You are comfortable operating in technically complex environments and working closely with engineering teams, while maintaining a clear focus on delivery outcomes.

Bring:

  • Experience delivering complex, multi‑team technical programmes (cloud, DevOps, or platform engineering environments)
  • A strong understanding of Agile and DevOps delivery practices
  • Experience in incident management, prioritisation, and operational delivery
  • Ability to manage dependencies, risks, and delivery governance effectively
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior and executive‑level stakeholders
  • Experience working in public sector or similarly regulated environments
  • A proactive, ownership‑driven mindset with the ability to unblock and drive delivery forward

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership

  • Lead delivery across multi‑team, multi‑stream technology programmes
  • Ensure delivery is structured, predictable, and aligned to agreed outcomes
  • Actively identify, manage, and unblock delivery risks and dependencies
  • Own incident management, prioritisation, and response coordination
  • Support both development and operational (DevOps) aspects of delivery

Team Enablement

  • Act as a delivery “umbrella” for engineering teams, protecting focus and removing friction
  • Ensure teams are set up to succeed with clear priorities, context, and direction
  • Avoid simply escalating issues – take ownership of driving resolution
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performing delivery environment

Stakeholder Management & Governance

  • Act as a key point of contact for client delivery and stakeholder communication
  • Manage expectations, trade‑offs, and conflicting priorities across stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain delivery governance, reporting, and escalation frameworks
  • Coordinate cross‑team alignment and ensure consistent communication across workstreams

Data‑Driven Delivery

  • Define and track delivery metrics such as velocity, lead time, burn‑down, and throughput
  • Use data to assess delivery health, forecast outcomes, and inform decision‑making
  • Provide clear, evidence‑based reporting to stakeholders

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive improvements in delivery practices, processes, and ways of working
  • Contribute to Appvia’s evolving delivery frameworks and operating models
  • Support adoption of modern delivery approaches aligned with DevOps and platform engineering

Benefits

  • Work‑life balance
  • Flexible working with core hours of 10‑4 pm
