Equinix is the world’s digital infrastructure company®. The Critical Facilities Engineer, Level IV, works Monday to Friday and takes a leading position within the operations team. The role requires technical expertise to maintain and evolve critical infrastructure, guide and mentor colleagues, and support senior staff while acting as a technical reference.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain seamless operation of facility infrastructure through diligent maintenance practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and monitor building and data‑centre alarms to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee and execute hands‑on preventative maintenance on site infrastructure, including permit‑to‑work systems (UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, life‑safety systems; HV switching experience preferred, LV required).
  • Perform and manage repairs and corrective maintenance on critical equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.
  • Plan and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure infrastructure reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive site logs and data records, including MOPs and scripts.
  • Assist senior staff in responding to on‑site incidents and take initiative in handling basic incidents based on expertise.
  • Complete basic work requests and circuit installations efficiently.
  • Participate actively in ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance facilities.
  • Execute works projects to improve site functionality.

Qualifications

  • Educational background: ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience in a data‑centre environment or a closely related industry.
  • In‑depth understanding of critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, life‑safety systems) and a history of LV certification.
  • Self‑motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
