At LSEG, we build technology that helps people make informed decisions in global financial markets. We are looking for a Principal Cloud Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong cloud platform experience to join us in evolving the reliability, scalability, and operational health of our LSEG Workspace platform. Workspace is a core product used by financial professionals around the world for real‑time data, analytics, research, and productivity. We design and operate this platform with care, balancing performance, resilience, security, and ease of use at scale.

In this role, we work with you to strengthen how our cloud‑native services are designed, operated, and supported across AWS and Azure. You will contribute hands‑on engineering skills, share technical guidance, and help shape long‑term platform approaches in a collaborative, learning‑oriented environment. We value thoughtful engineering, curiosity, and people who enjoy working with others to solve complex problems. This role combines technical depth, practical delivery, and the opportunity to positively influence how we build and run reliable systems.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Cloud Platform Engineering & Reliability: We work together to design and operate Workspace platform services that are resilient, scalable, and well‑understood. You will contribute to cloud infrastructure and application reliability across AWS and Azure, with attention to availability, performance, and sustainable cost practices. We apply Site Reliability Engineering principles to support consistent, customer‑focused outcomes. This includes developing and refining SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, and using incidents as opportunities for shared learning and improvement.
  • Systems Design & Platform Direction: We collaborate to shape the technical direction of Workspace cloud services over time. You will provide experience‑based input into distributed systems design, container platforms such as EKS, cloud networking, storage, and security. We support exploration of new technologies where they align with platform needs and long‑term maintainability.
  • Operational Ownership & Observability: We encourage shared responsibility for production systems. You will help investigate and resolve complex service issues while also improving how we observe, understand, and prevent them. Together, we build observability practices that support early detection, clear communication, and effective root‑cause analysis.
  • Automation, CI/CD & Ways of Working: We believe automation improves both system reliability and developer experience. You will contribute to automating infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and operational processes, supporting CI/CD workflows using GitLab. We use infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform to create consistency and confidence in our environments.
  • Security, Governance & Trust: We embed security and compliance into everyday engineering practices. You will help ensure cloud services align with governance expectations, vulnerability management processes, and regulatory requirements, while supporting teams to deliver safely and efficiently.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: We work as partners across engineering and product teams. You will share cloud and SRE knowledge, support less experienced engineers, and help create clear, reusable patterns that improve platform consistency. We value mentoring, documentation, and open technical discussion as much as individual contribution.

What You Bring

We know that people bring different strengths to a role, and we don’t expect every candidate to tick every box. If you are excited about this opportunity and feel you can contribute meaningfully, we encourage you to apply. You have substantial experience in cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, or DevOps at a senior or principal level, with a hands‑on approach to building and supporting production systems. You have strong experience working with AWS and/or Azure and are comfortable operating Kubernetes‑based platforms such as EKS, along with a solid Linux foundation.

You are familiar with SRE concepts and observability practices, and you have experience working with CI/CD tooling (such as GitLab) and infrastructure‑as‑code solutions like Terraform. You understand cloud‑native networking and high‑availability design, and you are comfortable working in Agile or Scrum‑based teams. Most importantly, you enjoy working collaboratively, communicating clearly, and learning alongside others in a continuously evolving technical environment.

This means that we do not discriminate on the basis of anyone’s race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, veteran status, pregnancy or disability, or any other basis protected under applicable law.
