About You and the Role
As part of the Change Team, the Interim Senior Project Manager will have overall responsibility for managing the delivery of assigned projects including matrix management of resources supporting said projects. This includes all stages of the project life cycle from requirements, vendor selection, design, testing and implementation to ensure successful delivery. Project delivery involves making recommendations to senior management regarding the type and number of resources (human, financial, tools, etc.) required to deliver assigned projects, and co‑ordinating the efforts of team members and third‑party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to timeline & budget constraints. As well as responsibility for their own deliverables, the Interim Senior Project Manager is expected to be able to work in conjunction with IT and other areas to deliver a joined‑up experience to the business, while ensuring that their work fits within the standards defined by the business.
What you will be doing
- Project Management
- Direct and manage large, complex projects from initiation through to successful delivery following the Enstar Project Management methodology.
- Define project scope, objectives and deliverables aligned with business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a detailed project plan including the critical path, milestones, phase gates, dependencies, resourcing, task breakdown, durations and schedules.
- Produce cost / benefit analyses.
- Identify and estimate the resources required to achieve project objectives.
- Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Work with the Resourcing Manager to identify and acquire the required project personnel from within the company or determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Work with senior stakeholders to develop robust business cases that clearly define the project’s benefits and support the approval process.
- Act as an SME in Enstar project management processes and provide support and guidance to other members of the change team.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks and issues.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope ensuring impacts are understood, approved, and incorporated into updated plans.
- Define and communicate project success criteria and monitor progress against them throughout the lifecycle.
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative research, to make decisions and recommendations for business change.
- Ensure a clear focus on improvements that add value.
- Coach, motivate and supervise project team members, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Build, develop, and grow business relationships that are considered vital to the success of the project.
Communication
- Obtain approval of the plan through effective communication skills, ensuring thorough understanding of the plan, its implications on revenues, delivery dates, resources, and deliverables.
- Develop and deliver status reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
- Proactive communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the conduit between business customers and IT.
- Establish and run a project governance framework proportionate to the project’s size, risk, and complexity, including decision forums, escalation paths, and controls to ensure timely, transparent delivery.
Documentation
- Own and develop required project lifecycle documentation, including the Project Charter and Risk, Assumptions, Actions, Issues, Dependencies and Decisions (RAAIDD) log.
Problem Solving
- Provide expertise to assist in problem solving in conjunction with the Business Functions.
- Identify business improvement opportunities.
What you will bring
- 10+ years of proven and progressive project management experience in Business Change and IT projects related to the delivery of new solutions and regulatory projects.
- Proven experience of delivering large, complex projects to time, cost and quality and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams including Technical IT, Architecture, Change and Business functions.
- Experience of developing strong working relationships with stakeholders and SMEs including C‑Suite.
- Demonstrable experience of managing 3rd party vendors.
- Experience developing project business cases including benefit realisation plans.
- Insurance experience and in particular Lloyd’s/London market experience is desirable including insurance associated controls (e.g., Solvency II).
- Experience of delivering projects with Global reach.
- Formal project management qualification in a recognised methodology.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint, MS Project, use of PPM tools.
- Experience of managing projects using PPM tools. Use of KeyedIn is a nice‑to‑have.
- Highly structured: ability to work in a logical and organised manner for self and others.
- Analytical thinking: ability to tackle issues and problems in a logical, step‑by‑step way.
