About the Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership role within a newly formed Claims Product Team. The Engineering Delivery Lead will play a critical role in shaping how the team operates, delivers value, and matures as a product‑led technology capability. This is not a traditional “delivery manager” role. We are seeking a leader with the drive, passion and accountability to build, inspire and elevate a team, someone who does not simply manage process, but actively removes obstacles, solves problems, and creates momentum. As a newly evolving product capability, this role offers the opportunity to define ways of working, embed engineering excellence, expand capability, and establish a high‑performing team that delivers measurable value to the business. The Engineering Delivery Lead will work in close partnership with the Product Owner, Business Analyst(s), and squad leads to shape and execute the Claims roadmap, ensuring delivery is aligned to regulatory priorities, business strategy and technical best practice. The Engineering Delivery Lead reports directly to the Enterprise Product Manager.
Core Responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end delivery across the Claims Product portfolio, ensuring timely and high‑quality execution of change.
- Lead delivery across initiatives relating to or impacting Claims.
- Provide technical oversight to ensure solutions meet architectural, security, data governance and quality standards.
- Ensure delivery approaches are proportionate to regulatory and audit requirements.
- Anticipate risks early, particularly regulatory, data or operational risk and drive proactive mitigation.
- Remove blockers decisively and create momentum across squads.
Team Leadership & Maturity
- Develop and evolve the Claims Product Team into a high‑performing, product‑oriented capability.
- Define and embed clear delivery standards, engineering practices and operating rhythms.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor engineers and squads to raise technical and delivery maturity.
- Expand team capability over time, identifying skill gaps and supporting recruitment and development.
- Champion knowledge sharing, documentation discipline and reusability across the team.
Product & Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner closely with the Product Manager to balance regulatory demand, technical health, and strategic product evolution.
- Support Business Analysts and SMEs in shaping well‑defined, deliverable outcomes.
- Manage intake and demand from multiple business lines into the Claims team.
- Provide clear, transparent reporting on delivery progress, risks, dependencies and outcomes.
- Set and manage stakeholder expectations effectively, especially in high‑risk or time‑sensitive regulatory scenarios.
Agile & Operational Excellence
- Embed modern engineering and DevOps practices including CI/CD, automation and cloud‑native principles.
- Design and refine a scalable agile delivery model appropriate for a growing product team.
- Drive continuous improvement in predictability, quality and value delivery.
- Ensure effective capacity planning and prioritisation aligned to business value.
Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in senior leadership of Product Engineering teams across a dispersed resource model.
- Software development experience, including in a Technical Lead or Delivery Manager role.
- Experience delivering solutions in regulated industries, ideally within insurance or financial services.
- Demonstrable experience managing delivery related to Claims within the Insurance Industry.
- Desirable to have experience in Guidewire Claims and Sequel Claims.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles and secure engineering practices.
- Track record of building and maturing engineering or product teams.
- Ability to inspire, lead, and coach technical teams while fostering a collaborative and high‑performing environment.
- Effective stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts across business and technology boundaries.
Leadership & Mindset
- A proactive, accountable leader who takes ownership and drives outcomes.
- Someone who actively resolves problems rather than escalating or deferring them.
- Demonstrable passion for improving teams, processes and products.
- Resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
- Able to inspire trust, energy and engagement within a team.
- High standards with a bias toward action and delivery.
Technical Skills
