About PayWise+
PayWise+ is Access PaySuite's dedicated financial wellness and payroll-linked payments business, delivering embedded financial services that help organisations support the financial wellbeing of their employees. Fast‐growing and commercially ambitious, PayWise+ combines innovative product thinking with a deep focus on delivering measurable impact for the organisations it serves.
The opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a high‐growth business within a larger, well‐resourced payments division. As Director of PayWise+, you will lead the business end‐to‐end — from strategy and product to sales, marketing, engineering, and operations — with full P&L responsibility and a direct reporting line to the Managing Director of Access PaySuite.
You will inherit a motivated team of 15 and a strong market position, and will be expected to accelerate growth through decisive commercial, product and people leadership, sharp commercial instincts, and will have the ability to operate at both strategic altitude and hands‐on execution level.
What you'll own
- Full P&L accountability for PayWise+, including revenue, margin, and cost management.
- Go-to-market strategy and execution — defining and driving PayWise+'s commercial approach across both on-Access and off-Access customer segments.
- Sales and account management — leading the team responsible for new business acquisition, pipeline development, and retention and expansion across on-Access and off-Access customers.
- Leadership and development of a matrixed 15-person team spanning sales, marketing, product, engineering, customer support, and operations.
- Definition and execution of the PayWise+ strategy, roadmap, and annual operating plan.
- Product vision and prioritisation, working closely with engineering and design to drive a differentiated proposition.
- Cross-functional collaboration with Access Group and PaySuite leadership.
- Operational excellence — building scalable processes, metrics-driven management, and a high-performance culture.
- Representing PayWise+ externally with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
What we're looking for
- Significant experience in technology or technology-enabled financial services, with a strong track record of leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced, competitive environments.
- Proven P&L ownership experience — you have run a business or business unit and understand what it takes to deliver commercial results.
- A natural operator who can set a compelling strategic vision and then roll up their sleeves to make it happen.
- Experience leading high performing diverse teams (sales, product, engineering, operations) and bringing the best out of people through clear direction, accountability, and genuine investment in their development.
- Deep commercial acumen — you understand unit economics, pricing, and what drives growth in a recurring-revenue technology business.
- A growth mindset and a vulnerability to fail fast.
- Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change; you thrive when the pace is high and the stakes are real.
- Adapting, using and role modelling established and emerging AI tools for professional and commercial development opportunities.
- Strong communication and influencing skills — you can engage a customer, align a leadership team, in a matrixed environment with equal effectiveness.
- Experience in payments, embedded finance, or financial wellness is a strong advantage but not a prerequisite.
We believe in equality for all and the transformative power of diversity.
