Ecolab, Purolite Resins is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician who will work within the UK Engineering team and contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation of the UK manufacturing plant. This role is based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Llantrisant, Wales.

Work in Ecolab, Purolite Resins’ Llantrisant Manufacturing Facility to ensure all mechanical and associated plant equipment is safe, functional, and fully maintained to the highest standards. Carry out comprehensive mechanical troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and repair as a primary function, ensuring seamless production and delivering manufacturing output targets. This role is suitable for candidates with a strong mechanical maintenance background and a focus on industrial plant reliability and safety compliance.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Ensure the continued upkeep of the Llantrisant Manufacturing Facility for all mechanical, rotating equipment, piping systems, and associated plant equipment through a hands-on approach.
  • Proactively carry out preventative maintenance (PPM), support service visits, mechanical inspections, and precision alignments focused on mechanical integrity and asset life cycle.
  • Develop and update maintenance procedures and other Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental documentation, ensuring strict adherence to PSSR, PUWER, and LOLER regulations.
  • Work safely on site, adhering to strict Permit to Work (PTW) systems and producing/following Method Statements (RAMS) for all maintenance tasks.
  • Work with Process Engineers, Plant Engineers & other production R&D staff on troubleshooting and improvement projects, leading on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for mechanical failures.
  • Ensure all Mechanical Maintenance work (internal & contractors) is carried out correctly and recorded accurately within the CMMS to maintain a robust audit trail.
  • Provide high-quality shift handovers, ensuring technical continuity and safety across the 4-on 4-off shift pattern.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in the facility and be available for remote support and call out – process to be defined.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by management of the company.

Working Hours: Shift pattern (4 on 4 off days / 12-hour shifts).

Qualifications:

  • Education: HNC/HND qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or a time-served apprenticeship with significant industrial experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong experience in fault finding and repair of mechanical systems, including centrifugal pumps, agitators, gearboxes, mechanical seals (single/double), and steam systems.
  • Compliance Knowledge: A solid understanding of UK statutory regulations, specifically PSSR (Pressure Systems) and PUWER.
  • Documentation: Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Systems: Proficiency in using a CMMS for logging work and managing spares.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to write clear technical reports and procedures to support continuous improvement.
  • Safety: Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and handle heavy equipment safely.
  • Workshop Skills: Competency in precision fitting, machining, and basic fabrication/welding.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience of working in a COMAH or high-hazard chemical environment.
  • Experience of Mechanical Maintenance in hazardous areas (ATEX/DSEAR).
  • Experience in Condition Monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
  • Basic electrical awareness (e.g., 18th Edition or experience with three-phase motor replacement).
  • Specific training or certifications in rigging, slinging, or forklift operation.
