We are seeking a capable and detail‑driven Electrical Project & Pre‑Commissioning Engineer to support the successful delivery of Clarke Energy’s power generation and energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. Acting as a key technical presence on site, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, compliance and readiness of electrical systems throughout installation and pre‑commissioning phases. Working closely with Project Engineers, commissioning teams and subcontractors, you will help deliver safe, reliable and fully validated electrical installations in line with Clarke Energy’s high standards. This role is ideally suited to an individual with a strong electrical background, practical commissioning experience, and a disciplined approach to quality assurance and documentation. The position requires extensive travel, including regular overnight stays, and site‑based working across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the pre‑commissioning activities of electrical systems, including LV and HV installations, control systems and ancillary equipment.
- Verify installations against drawings, specifications and industry standards to ensure compliance and readiness for commissioning.
- Develop, review and maintain quality documentation, inspection records and commissioning packs.
- Identify non‑conformances and support corrective actions to ensure systems meet required standards.
Site Coordination & Technical Support
- Work collaboratively with Project Engineers, commissioning teams and subcontractors to resolve electrical installation and pre‑commissioning issues.
- Provide technical input into installation practices, sequencing and commissioning readiness.
- Attend site meetings with internal teams, contractors and clients, contributing clear and accurate updates on progress and issues.
Commissioning Support & Oversight
- Support and oversee elements of the commissioning process, including functional testing and system validation.
- Assist in coordinating activities across multiple disciplines to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Provide support to other Pre‑Commissioning Engineers across projects as required.
Standards, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards across all activities.
- Review and provide feedback on engineering deliverables and commissioning documentation.
- Promote best practice in quality, documentation and electrical installation standards.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain high professional standards and represent Clarke Energy positively on client sites.
- Travel extensively across the UK and Ireland, including periods of working away from home.
- Support project teams in meeting programme, quality and safety objectives.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Strong background in electrical engineering, installation or commissioning.
- Proven experience working with LV and HV systems within construction or energy projects.
- Demonstrable site‑based experience, with the ability to coordinate and support installation activities.
- Good understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Working knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition).
- ECS/CSCS card (or equivalent).
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively.
Desirable Experience
- 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent).
- Experience with CHP, power generation or energy infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of commissioning processes and documentation systems.
- Exposure to quality auditing or structured QA processes.
