As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a Senior Claims Handler to join our Liability & Construction Claims Team in Leeds.

You’ll manage a varied and technically interesting caseload, work closely with underwriters and brokers, and play a key role in delivering a market‑leading claims service.

What you’ll be doing: As a Senior Claims Handler, you’ll take full ownership of your claims from notification through to settlement, ensuring outcomes that are fair, commercial and aligned with Markel’s values.
- Handle a diverse caseload with a focus on Professional Indemnity, Cyber and Management Liability, alongside Employers’ and Public Liability
- Apply detailed policy wording knowledge to deliver confident, well‑reasoned claims decisions
- Proactively manage workloads, prioritising effectively and meeting deadlines
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key partners
- Collaborate closely with underwriting and contribute to team projects and initiatives
- Play an active role in maintaining Markel’s reputation for technical excellence and service quality
What we’re looking for: We’re looking for a confident, commercially minded claims professional who enjoys working autonomously while being part of a supportive team. You’ll bring:
- Experience handling Professional Indemnity, Cyber or Management Liability claims
- A legal qualification or strong claims experience, with CII study completed or a desire to pursue it
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time‑management abilities
- Solid Microsoft Office skills and the ability to quickly learn in‑house systems
