We are seeking a driven and commercially astute Business Development Manager to join our UK Sales Team. This is a pivotal role focused on delivering revenue and EBIT growth within the core Metals and Minerals inspection business. You will play a key part in shaping and executing sales strategies, strengthening client relationships, and expanding market presence across the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a proven ability to win and grow business in a competitive, target-driven environment.
About the Position

- Shift: 5 Days - 08:30 to 17:00
- Contract: Full Time & Permanent
The Day to Day
- Develop and implement annual sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Collaborate with senior management to build and execute the annual Sales Plan and budget.
- Drive revenue growth by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities.
- Strengthen the company’s market position within the commodities industry through strategic client engagement.
- Work closely with global Business Development teams to maximise leads and opportunities.
- Provide bi-weekly forecasting updates and regular progress reports to senior stakeholders.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the sales function, fostering strong internal collaboration.
- Plan and attend industry events, including trade shows, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Support the UK Inspection Operations Team with technical expertise when required.
- Contribute to improving financial performance, including supporting debtor management and DSO improvements.
- Develop and execute strategies for new customer acquisition and project growth.
The Essentials
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales or business development within the metals and minerals sampling and analysis industry.
- Proven track record of delivering and exceeding targets in a target-driven sales environment.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience with profit and loss and delivering profitable services.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively across cultures and seniority levels.
- Demonstrated ability in Key Account Management and building long‑term client relationships.
- Strong closing skills and the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and executing strategic sales plans.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems, with strong reporting capability.
- Technical knowledge of the commodity inspection industry is essential.
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team.
- Flexible approach with willingness to travel across the UK and internationally as required.
- Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high‑quality service.
- Professional, collaborative team player with strong cultural awareness.
